How to make kofta dish

 Kofta, also known as meatballs, is a Middle Eastern and South Asian dish that typically consists of ground meat mixed with spices and formed into small balls or patties. Here is a recipe for kofta that you can try at home:

Ingredients:

For the kofta:

  • 1 pound ground beef or lamb
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the sauce:

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cups water or beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, minced garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Mix well with your hands until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  3. Form the meat mixture into small balls or patties, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

  4. Place the kofta on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned on the outside.

  5. While the kofta is cooking, prepare the sauce. Heat a large saucepan over medium heat and add a tablespoon of oil. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until the onion is translucent.

  6. Add the tomato paste and water or beef broth to the pan, and stir well to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  7. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, until it has thickened slightly.

  8. Once the kofta is finished cooking, add it to the sauce and let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  9. Serve the kofta hot, garnished with chopped parsley or cilantro if desired.
