How to make Custard
Custard is a classic dessert made with milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Here is a simple recipe for custard:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it just begins to steam. Be careful not to boil the milk.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the sugar and egg yolks until the mixture is thick and pale yellow.
Slowly pour the hot milk into the bowl with the sugar and egg mixture, whisking constantly. Be sure to pour the milk slowly to avoid scrambling the eggs.
Stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the mixture into a baking dish or ramekins.
Place the baking dish or ramekins in a larger baking pan and fill the pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the custard dish.
Bake the custard for 40-45 minutes or until it is set but still jiggles slightly in the center.
Remove the baking dish or ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature. Then, chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
Enjoy your delicious custard! You can serve it on its own or with fresh fruit or whipped cream
