How to make chicken soup

 Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • Oil, for frying
  • Toppings: refried beans, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, crumbled queso fresco, sour cream, and hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chicken breast until no longer pink. Remove from heat and shred with a fork.

  2. In the same skillet, sauté the garlic and onion until softened. Add the shredded chicken, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes until well combined.

  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the masa harina and warm water until a soft dough forms. Divide the dough into 8 pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

  4. Using your hands, flatten each ball into a disc about 1/4-inch thick.

  5. In a frying pan, heat about 1/2 inch of oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the flattened masa discs to the oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove from the oil and let drain on paper towels.

  6. To assemble the soups, spread a thin layer of refried beans on each fried masa disc. Top with the chicken mixture, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, crumbled queso fresco, sour cream, and hot sauce.

  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious homemade chicken soups!
